DAY 1-ARRIVAL IN DURBAN

Durban is South Africa’s third-largest city but Africa’s largest port. Slightly north of Durban lies Umhlanga which is a place to relax and have fun on its safe beaches. It is recommended to enjoy Umhlanga by strolling on the boardwalk that meanders through the Nature Reserve or you could even spend time at various entertainment complexes to find out more about the largest ethnic tribe in South Africa, the Zulus. The naming of Amanzimtoti, lying slightly south of Durban, is generally attributed to King’Shaka’. King Shaka and his army stopped to rest beside a local river. As King Shaka drank a few mouthfuls of river water to quench his thirst, he exclaimed, with enjoyment and total excitement “Kanti Amanzimtoti”. Translated it means, ‘the water is sweet’; hence it was the birth of ‘Amanzimtoti’. Many resorts are edged side by side along this coast of contentment. This stretch of coastline is also referred to as the ‘Gold Coast’. This is holiday life with an atmosphere of relaxation, the warmth of the smiling people and the beauty of the countryside does welcome and urges everyone to be part of this pleasure.
